We're getting in some Detroit Bikes this week. They're made in Detroit. Some parts are imported of course but the frame and bars and fenders and rack and a couple other things are made in Detroit. The company has the capability of producing 50,000 bikes a year. I can't wait to buy one for myself. A three speed city bike. Maybe it's silly but the concept of an American made bike for 500 bucks gives me goose bumps. We'll post some pics after we build one.
In case it gets stolen. Because having your bike stolen—especially when it's your primary method of transportation—is the worst. Tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Whole Foods downtown, APD will be on hand to help register your bike in the city's system. You'll need your bike's serial number and need to know its make and model and whatnot. (If you know all of this already and are feeling confident, you can go ahead and register here.)
